Hi there,

I’m a disabled student on campus and I just read your article addressing some of the accessibility issues. Did you know that they’re actually moving the accessibility office from a very convenient place for people like me who have mobility issues to a way less accessible area? Right now the accessibility office is on the ground floor of Morgan, right next to the door that faces the handicap parking which is extremely easy for me to reach. They are moving the accessibility and accommodations office all the way over to the plass building which most students actually have never been to and is pretty far away. And not only are they doing this, they are moving it up to the third floor. Despite Heather Pope Joy literally being in a wheelchair. I was pretty appalled and disappointed to find this out but was told that there was nothing that we could do to stop it. This is a pretty big blow for somebody like me who has mobility issues and already struggles to even get to the elevator, let alone ride it some days. I just thought maybe the person who wrote that article would be interested to hear this. It’s things like this that really rub it in my face that washburn does not care about my disability sometimes.

Thanks!
