It is critical to know the basics of filing taxes. H&R Block is one establishment that can inform you on those principles. The Review spoke with a tax professional to get some tips on taxes.

“As a young person sometimes it is misunderstood they don’t have a filing requirement. So it’s important to find out that because if you are a dependant your filing requirement is lower and you may indeed have a tax liability. Or sometimes we are filing to get all of your refund back. Now with the New Expanded Education Credits it’s important also to know which credit you are eligible for. The New American Opportunity Credit is available for the first four years of college and even a portion of that could be refundable.”

Remember that filing taxes doesn’t have to be a bad thing. You could even get your money back. For more in depth information on taxes visit your local H&R Block.
