Washburn’s Ichabods met the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri Friday night Oct 4 in Yeager Stadium. The Ichabods lost in the 96 minute 6 minutes in to overtime with a score of 0-1. With this loss the Ichabods are now at 5-3-0 for the season.
In the first half both teams where scoreless, in a defensive battle in between the two. Freshman Goalkeeper Raegan Wells saved both shots that the Bearcat’s made. And Sophomore Midfielder Mackenzie Menke recorded 2 shots on the Bearcat Goal both of them were blocked.
The Second half had the Ichabods and bearcats both fighting for the goal in a truly impressive stalemate for both sides. Once aging Freshman Goalkeeper Raegan Wells rose to the occasion stopping all three shots towards the goal. Junior Midfielder Tera Lynch and Senior Forward Olivia Garsso had three shots apiece on the Bearcat’s goal. With one argued shot for Olivia Garsso on it being a goal or not.
In overtime the Ichabods struck first with a shot on the goal by Garsso, but it was stopped by the Bearcat’s goalkeeper. The Bearcat’s finally managed to get a shot in at the 6-minute mark in overtime. Thus, ending the game.

Fast and furious: Mattie Miano takes control of the ball in the defensive zone after it is thrown back into play. Last year Miano totalled 329 minutes on the pitch with 3 starts in 11 appearances.
Get your kicks: Mattie Miano kicks the ball out of the defensive zone toward her fellow Ichabods at center field. Miano is in her sophomore year at Washburn Univeristy.
Unfinished business: Tera Lynch regains control of the ball after a battle with some Northwest players. Lynch has 5 goals and 14 assists in her career with Washburn.
Highway robbery: Freshman Lauren Dietrick robs a Northwest player of the ball and makes her way down the field. In high school, Dietrick tallied 59 goals in her three years playing soccer.
Can't touch this: Tera Lynch plays keep away with a Northwest player who is intent on keeping Washburn's score at zero. In her first two years with the team Lynch made 37 starts on 39 games.
Head in the game: Sydney Rosemann knocks the ball out of the air and gains control of the play. Last season Rosemann totalled 164 minutes on the pitch.
Running the ball: Freshmen forward Halle Hill is running the ball down the sideline looking for that goal opening. Halle Hill has so far appeared for a total 404 minutes, in all eight games this season for the Ichabods.
Leading the charge: Sophomore Forward Josie Rimmer leading the charge towards the ball after a long kick into play. This is the second year Rimmer has played for the Ichabods.
This is mine: Senior Forward Emily Gartner defending the ball from the Bearcats as she moves it down the field. Emily Gartner is a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
Working the ball: Sophomore Midfielder Mackenzie Menke is trying to fight the ball clear of the Bearcats in Friday’s Game. Mackenzie Menke had one shot on goal during Friday’s game against the Bearcats.
Stopping the flow: Senior Forward Olivia Grasso receiving the ball after a pass made by a teammate in Friday’s game against the Bearcats. Olivia Grasso made 3 different shots on the goal during this game.
Clear and long: Freshman Goalkeeper Raegan Wells kicking the ball clear of the goal box. Raegan Wells had 5 saves in Friday’s game against the Bearcats.
Flying in: Junior midfielder Tera Lynch is flying to take charge of the ball in Friday’s game against the Bearcats. Tera Lynch has played in nine games this season and has logged an incredible 805 minutes. Tera Lynch only missed 15 minutes of gameplay this season.
Pit stop: Junior defender Whitney Bockover is stopping at half time to get her ankles rewrapped. Whitney Bockover was instrumental in the defense of the Ichabod goal during Friday’s game against the Bearcats.
Taking charge: Junior Kati Sneegas attacking the goal. Sneegas has appeared in all eight games played this year.
Eye on the ball: Sophomore Kristen Burns on defense stopping her opponent one on one. Burns has appeared in all eight games played this year.
Eyes up: Sophomore Jesyca Lopez looking for a teammate up field, ready to pass. This was Lopez’s twenty-third appearance as a Washburn Ichabod.
That’s my ball: Junior Kati Sneegas stealing the ball from the opposing team. This was Sneegas’ thirty-sixth appearance as a Washburn Ichabod.
