Movies are made to entertain audiences and for Marvel’s “The Avengers” that opened this weekend does just that.
Film sparks controversy
“May the odds be ever in your favor,” has become the most known phrase worldwide over a two-week time span—yes, I’m referring to Suzanne Collin’s “The Hunger Games” which hit theaters officially at midnight on March 22, 2012. Since then, the movie has eased its way into the top grossing movies on opening weekend with $150 million, earning the third top movie in opening weekend history next to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part two and The Dark Knight.
Being someone who can memorize the date I have seen each "Star Wars" movie for the first time, I admit I was beyond excited to see "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" in 3D.
After seeing the recently-released 2010 version of "True Grit" on Netflix-featuring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin—I was excited to find that the original 1969 version of the movie was also available on instant queue.
Radcliffe leaves Potter behind
In Hollywood's most recent horror film, "The Woman in Black," director James Watkins gives a new twist to an old tale of misery and regret.
4 out of 5 Top Hats
The movie "Red Tails" is a high action packed flying action movie inspired by the heroic exploits of the first all African American aerial combat unit.
'Somebody thought of that and someone believed it'
As a kid who grew up watching the Muppets I can say that this movie is fantastic. It will bring you back to your childhood, as well as entertain you as an adult and entertain your kids.
Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part One was everything a Twihard could hope for and then some.
Movie deemed laughable
"Immortals" is essentially a nothing of a film trying to ride the coattails of big-budget action movies set in Ancient Greece like "300" and "Clash of the Titans," where greased-up shirtless guys kill things in slow motion.
Depp depicts youth successfully
"The Rum Diary" is the story of a young journalist named Paul Kemp (Depp) in San Juan, Puerto Rico working at a dying newspaper while trying to express his depression and discontent with the poverty of the locals while being wined and dined (mostly wined) by businessmen who want him to plant key articles that will help them build more beach front hotels.
characters stereotypical, but good
As far as performances go, "Ides" has a lot to like; since Clooney directed and co-wrote this film in addition to playing Morris.
Apes gone wild
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" remains a pretty good film despite this sizable hiccup in its plot. While I would not go so far as to recommend you go see it, if you are planning a trip to the movies sometime soon it is one of your best choices.
Another Great Superhero Movie
I certainly recommend this movie for others to see and if you are still confused about the whole "Avengers" thing, well stay after the credits and you will see.
The Movie Event of a Generation
The movie event of a generation has arrived in theatres. The long awaited conclusion to the Harry Potter series that fans have long awaited for is at long last here.
When going in to watch the third installment of the Transformers series Transformers: Dark of the Moon once again directed by Michael Bay my expectations were not too high.
This summer is certainly the summer for movie sequels and prequels and "X-Men: First Class" is a must see for everyone, even if you're not an "X-Men" fanatic.

Grammer and Dulle rate this movie 4 out of 5 Top Hats
Bryce Grammer and Brian Dulle review the fourth movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and give it a 2 & 1/2 out of 5 Top Hats.
David Weins explains why "The Social Network" is the biggest movie of the year so far.
Of all the movies this summer about a rogue team of elite mercenaries (there have been three), "The Expendables" is the only one I bothered to watch. I was not fooling myself going in. I assumed this was going to be an over-the-top thrill ride with a very thin plot and a lot of good one-liners. As it turns out, it was actually an obscenely gruesome bloodbath with an anorexic storyline and misplaced one-liners with no setup.
As I scanned over the new releases in search of my next review I saw something that looked a little too familiar.
"Avatar: Special Edition 3D" was to be released all of nine months after the original. Not twenty years, not even one year; children conceived when the movie premiered may not all even be born yet.
I will admit that the prospect of sitting through another movie starring Will Ferrell was hardly an intriguing one.
Granted, he had done some great work up to and including "Anchorman," but when he played essentially the same character for "Talladega Nights," "Blades of Glory," and "Semi-Pro" I had grown pretty sick of him. However, when I found out Ferrell was not playing a mildly talented yet incredibly arrogant simpleton my interest was piqued.
